How To Create Audio Spectrum in Adobe After Effects

To create an audio spectrum in Adobe After Effects, follow these steps:

Step 1: Create a New Composition

Create a new composition with the aspect ratio you need depending on the destination (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc.). Import your audio file with the music or sound you want to generate the audio visualizer and drag the audio to the timeline.

Step 2: Import Your Audio

Open After Effects and create a new composition (set the resolution and duration based on your preference).

Import your audio file by going to File > Import > File.

Drag the audio file into the timeline.

Step 3: Add a Solid Layer

Go to Layer > New > Solid and name it "Audio Spectrum."

Set the color to black or any background color you prefer, and click OK.

Step 4: Add the Audio Spectrum

With the solid layer selected, go to Effects > Generate > Audio Spectrum.

In the Effect Controls panel, set the Audio Layer to the audio file you imported. This will allow the spectrum to react to your audio.

Step 5: Customize the Spectrum

Start and End Points: Adjust these to set the length and position of the spectrum.

Frequency Bands: Increase this to add more detail to the spectrum.

Maximum Height: Change this value to control the height of the bars.

Audio Duration: Adjust to refine how the spectrum reacts over time.

Colors: Customize the Inside and Outside Color to give the spectrum your desired look.
